Lighthead is on visuals tonight.

With the dust still not settled and recovery from the 10 year anniversary not complete, it is time for the next round of LLW: the Turkey Burner edition! That's right boys and girls, you are most likely to eat a lot of turkey around that time, so what better way to burn it all off than dancing to the killer tunes of Yousef (Cocoon, Circus), Kevin Shiu, Abasi, Max Ulis, and the Librarian. There will of course be two rooms, house and bass music, and most importantly, underground dancing fun times. So join us and let's party, would ya?

This will be the last #LLW of 2013!

#LLW #10YearsOfLLW

Main Room
YOUSEF (Cocoon, Circus) • DJ Kevin Shiu

Abasi • Max Ulis b2b The Librarian

YOUSEF // Liverpool, UK // Circus, Cocoon, Cecille

Yousef is a man firmly in control of his imminent destiny. Having been at the forefront of dance music fan’s attentions across the globe since the latter stages of the last century, he’s an artist that continues to evolve and develop with consummate ease. New sounds, new developments and new frontiers; they all remain an instrumental part of his thrust forward as one the planet’s leading underground House music tastemakers.

As a producer he continues to smash preconceptions about not only his style but the wider spectrum of House and Techno as well. Recently he’s gifted his beats to an ever expanding cluster of the most revered and respected imprints in the business, be them Carl Cox’s Intec, Nick Curly’s Cecille, Nic Fanciuilli’s Saved, the effervescent Monique Musique and of course Sven Vath’s timeless label Cocoon which released ‘Come Home’, Yousef’s stunning piece de resistance.

He’s recently finished his second full artist album, adding a series of more musically focused tracks to his resume alongside the serious (self penned) emotive vocal moments and of course many dance floor workouts (currently getting endless love from Loco Dice, Magda, Nic Fancuilli, Carl Cox, Guti and Uner). Coming soon is a developing live concept that redefines how electronic music is experienced.

Atlanta’s Embassy Recordings has in three short years become an underground stalwart for bass music. Co-owned by Distal and Mite, they have done an incredible job traversing the complex landscape of modern electronic music with a certain panache, seldom seen in newer record labels. They have maintained an incredibly high standard for their releases, tapping some of the most exciting up-and-coming producers for material, that has made their catalogue as exciting as it is diverse.

These guys really need no introduction, and fans of our event series so far know exactly what is in store...A fucking party!!

We take great pride how we curate our shows, always looking for true innovators in their respective sounds, and this show is no exception - Bringing together one of our absolute favourite labels and three of the most accomplished artists on their roster.

Severine has personally had the honour of performing beside all three of these gentlemen throughout the past 4 years and can say without question, they are some of the finest underground selectors on the continent, and we couldn't be more excited to put them all together, back in Vancouver for a team show, that will blow minds.

WOODHEAD (Vancouver, BC)
Homebreakin | East Van Digital | Sauna Sessions

Vancouver's Darren Woodhead is a West Coast institution. Having cut his teeth touring Western Canada and the States with punk bands, he picked up DJing from one of his band mates. He then went on to host the now legendary Sauna Sessions podcast, broadcasting live from a mobile sauna party somewhere in East Van, and hosted the hugely popular Signal Saturdays at the now defunkt Lotus Lounge. He was a mainstay at the Renegade stage at another fabled West Coast festival, Soundwave.

Fast forward to the present and Woodhead has played every big festival in Western Canada to much aplomb. Famous for marathon sets at hours no one in their right mind wants to play, Woodhead thrives playing for people who want to keep the vibe alive. Whether the crowd is in the thousands or single digits he makes sure everyone is dancing.

He has been producing in the studio as well, having some great remixes and originals on scene stalwarts Homebreakin' Records, as well as local upstart East Van Digital, and currently co-organizes the hugely popular Body Language Series in Vancouver with other local luminaries like Neighbour.

The DJ's DJ, is true journeyman who has clocked more rave hours than anyone in the scene, Woodhead's sets get better every year and are guaranteed to bring the vibe he is famous for. Who else can DJ in a 100 degree wooden box or battling 90km winds on Canada's rugged west coast?

Shambhala | East Van Digital | Intimate

I'm the guy behind the East Van Digital record label and live A/V act Fresh Baked DJs. Dropping tunes since 1998 and a Shambhala resident DJ since 2004, I've played many a memorable set in the legendary Fractal Forest. For 3 years I hosted The Shakedown radio show and with the Liquidbeat collective, helped produce some of the B.C. interior's most inspiring parties. Currently, I'm a resident DJ with Intimate Productions, who maintained the long running night SiGNAL Saturdays at the former Lotus Sound Lounge in Vancouver.

I play what I think is best for the moment; I'm an obsessive collector with a deep library and a fond love of programming, playing deep, disco, electro, funky and jackin' house, including my own edits, originals and remixes.

My tracks and remixes have been play-listed on BBC Radio 1 and supported by Andru Pozzatron, City and Mixxxy, De Koze, Denis A, Funk Hunters, Grant Nelson, Incredible Melting Man, Jason Score, Joachim Garraud, Joel Armstrong, Kissy Sell Out, Mat The Alien, Qdup Foundation, Smalltown DJs, Stereoheroes, Tomb Crew, Tyler Stadius and more.

“East Van Digital bigwig Joseph Martinʼs flawlessly mixed, incessantly funky 8 a.m. disco set capped off a great Friday night for some, and started othersʼ days on a note so upbeat that no one had to buy any coffee.” – Alan Ranta / Exclaim! / Review of Shambhala 2011

“Joseph Martin of Vancouver was up next and his set was AMAZING! ...Joeʼs music instantly maxed out the floor. Iʼm guessing it wasnʼt his first Bar-B-Que! My dude threw down! When Joe hit the stage I knew what it meant to be at Brat party. After his set I talked to Joey about his energy and my dude told me “If youʼre not on stage freaking out how can you expect the crowd to!” Such energy, he played an electro set and it was kill, heʼs from Vancouver and that was pretty obvious, their electro scene is so far ahead of ours itʼs basically a different genre. It was like electro 2.0 for me.” – Collin Gordan / Review of “SILK” by Brat Productions

“Vancouver label East Van Digital has begun to make waves with a steady pattern of solid releases, stemming from a fully stacked roster of over 50 producers. With label boss man Joseph Martin having cut his teeth on such small stages as Shambhalaʼs Fractal Forest and the long-loved-but-never-forgotten Lotus Sound Lounge, after a listen to the labelʼs new showcase EVD Bass 2, itʼs clear he learned a thing or two about recognizing talent.” – Summer Swanson / BeatRoute Magazine

LYSSA (Victoria, BC)

Lyssa is passionate about art, clothing & costume design, music, & dancing. Her first appearance as DJ "Lyssa" took place in 2005. Having spent 11 years in Mexico, and being fortunate enough to be exposed to Latin culture, she has a strong desire to explore her roots in her musical selections. Lyssa's style could be described as sexy, smooth, organic, & classy, depending on what what mood we catch her in, expect anything from deep rolling Chicago house to quirky & bouncy Latin house..

Lyssa has had the privilege of performing at summer festivals such as Shambhala Music Festival, Victoria Electronic Music Festival, Entheos Gathering, Bushwacked, Fozzyfest, Uprising, and Solaris. She made Victoria her home in spring 2007, and maintains residencies at Hush Nightclub, The Mint, and Chicago House FM. You can hear her show The Stitch, broadcast live every Monday from 5-7pm PST on

We hit #1 on the Disco albums chart on Juno Download this week!

We also got a excellent write up on the release.

More from the popular and hard-working Editorial camp, as they unfurl another five track exercise in joining the dots between disco and house. Label regulars Ed Wizard and Disco Double Dee kick things off with "In Funk We Trust", a groovesome disco-funk edit with just the right amount of contemporary production wizardry (think tightened up grooves and drawn-out filters). Loz Goddard dips a toe into deep disco-house territory with the woozy "Over Ur Shoulder", while Tonbe gives a classic funk tune the 4/4 treatment on "Boss of Funk". The two standouts, though, are Brutal Disco's baggy, boogie-influenced head-nodder "Get Down", and Woodhead's midtempo delight "You Gotta Go", a low-down chunk of pitched-down soul.

The rays of a brilliant summer blaze on, and in the spirit of cross-crew unity and a love for dance, we announce the 9th edition of our little vibe-soaked grownup dance party.

Ryan Enochson and Sean Matwiy are each formidable talents in their own right, but their collaboration as Howl Sound has taken their work to new heights. They've honed their sound and forest-tested their new material, which comes in somewhere between deep house and psychedelic techno. Eschewing the cheeky predictable riffs of the current house resurgence, this young team weaves technical sound design back into musical phrases with an ease that belies their age.

Sam Demoe has worn many hats throughout his career in both music and art. Musically he's been a touted MC, hosted hiphop nights, DJ'ed at every pub / club / bar / afterhours in town, and most recently decimated the masses at Shambhala with his unique fusion of modern bass sounds with emerging techno-house derivatives. He's got that elusive flexibility in his style- the ability to both read the crowd and whip them into a frenzy without neglecting the needs of the more discerning heads. On top of that, his graphic design has graced so many event flyers, CD covers, and blogs that it's literally impossible to list them all. We're more than excited for Sam's BL debut.

On top of all that, we have champion patio-lurker Fedski, MC Thinktank, the head of toastmasters (tm) British Columbia, the ever-philandering Neighbour, and the ubiquitous Woodhead on hand to wrap you up in that comfy Homebreakin blanket of groove that you've grown used to.

So here's hoping you can join us for another installation of our party, by dancers for dancers.

Shambhala -2013-Living-Room.jpg

We're easing back into reality after an epic year at Shambhala full of so many highlights and special moments that will last a lifetime. Thanks to Hoola and Lioness for hosting my dj set at The living Room Stage, Bent Matter Crew for inviting me to perform visuals at the Living Room as well as Dj soup and the Pagoda Stage crew for having me perform visuals on The Pagoda Stage on Sunday Night. I was loving every minute.

Crisp, bassy cutting edge electronic sound. DJ’s, performers, lasers and visuals add to a sensory world that defines our festival generation. Wander art galleries, the festival market, nibble good eats or soak in the river. The world of Shambhala is the stuff of legend.

Returning to Falconetti's tonight to dj The Recovery Room with a boat load of summer jammys.

If your a fan of Electronic Dance Music and have spent many a night dancing sweaty at a Vancouver Club or Music Festival in Western Canada your probably a fan of WOODHEAD, whether you know it or not. He has been a prominent figure in the music scene in Vancouver for over 10 years and has played nearly every dance floor, venue, and festival in BC. Described as a "DJ's DJ, (WOODHEAD) is a true journeyman who has clocked more rave hours than anyone in the scene," (Jordan Cook in Beatroute Magazine)
Always inspired and driven, WOODHEAD's warm personality and contagious beats continue to draw hungry dancers to his sets.

Look out for his new ep on Punchout! Recordings this fall as well as a new album from S2 collaboration Clyphs, this July on Homebreakin Records.

The inaugural Tall Tree Music Festival took place June 25th-26th, 2010 on the west coast of Vancouver Island in the picturesque town of Port Renfrew.
The festival was amazingly positive and displayed the importance of having such events in the Southern Vancouver Island region. With a beautiful mixture of electronic and live bands, the Tall Tree Music Festival brought together people of all genres for a solid two days of dancing. Most importantly, all of those who attended proved to the Port Renfrew township that they were beyond capable of setting the right tone of respect.

In 2011 the event moved to the amazing property known as BROWNS MOUNTAIN and the festival was once again an incredibly positive experience for all in attendence.

2013!!! TALL TREE IV!!! Once again people will gather upon BROWNS MOUNTAIN for an experience sure to be one of the highlights of the summer!

Don`t miss out!!

No trees were harmed in the production of this festival. In fact a few were even saved.
