Nina Kraviz (Moscow, Russia) | Bio

Nina Kraviz is currently the name on everyone's lips in the house and techno community. Very rarely does a DJ/Producer shoot to stardom so quickly - and when they do, they seldom have the talent to back it up. Nina is the exception to the rule.

After spending her childhood in the Siberian city of Irkutsk, Nina moved to Moscow and gradually found herself more involved in the local scene. She began producing music in 2008, and before long had her first release 'Voices' on the Underground Quality imprint in 2009. Around the same time, Nina began making a name for herself as a DJ, spinning in Moscow's bars and clubs. This led to a 2-year stint running a very well known Friday night party at one of the most respected clubs in Russia, Propaganda.

Her second release on UQ 'First Time EP' had great support from DJs and press alike, receiving 4.5/5 from Resident Advisor. In the same year she had her 'breakthrough' hit on Rekids, 'Pain In The Ass', featuring the arguably more successful 'I'm Gonna Get You' on the B Side – which Nina still gets asked to play. She also collaborated with Efdemin for their release 'Hotter Than July / Sun' on his Naif label. The gigs started to come thick and fast, and by the end of 2010, Nina could claim to have played the major clubs across the globe – mixing her unique raw blend of House, Techno, Acid and rare goodies, much to the punters' delight.

Last year saw her release a second single on Naif, as well as a collaboration with Sascha Funke on BPitch Control and the well received remix of Okain's 'Scream' on Tsuba. Rekids was also proud to present her second release with us in the form of 'I'm Week' – a truly unique take on House music, that translates just as well on radio without compromising its integrity.

2012 will see the release of Ninaʼs eponymously titled album ʻNina Kravizʼ on Rekids, along with a world tour and the launch of a new live show.

Bass-Sick Productions is proud to present the next major event in the Bass-Sick party series... NOAH'S ARK. Otherwise known as "ANIMAL PARTY 2". The first ever ANIMAL PARTY was one the sexiest, funkiest, and most talked about events of 2011 and this is shaping up to be much better.

Bass-Sick has been blessed with the most amazing fans, friends, volunteers, artists, security, technicians, photographers, musicians, cooks, promoters, ticket outlets, first-aiders, designers, selectas and party goers. We would like to start by thanking you and expressing our gratitude and appreciation for your continued support and participation. If it wasn’t for you, none of this would be possible! The Bass-Sick community continues to grow and is incredibly unique, diverse, fun, beautiful, and talented to say the least.

If you are new to the community please visit our page and click like to stay connected. (https://www.facebook.com/Bass.Sick.Productions)

We would like to encourage everyone who is a fan of our parties to please contact us, get involved and become part of the Bass-Sick family. Your ideas and talents are amazing and we would like to showcase them and give them the proper attention they deserve. The more amazing people we can have involved the better the events will continue to become as a result. Everyone is encouraged to bring something to contribute, there is nothing more beautiful and gratifying then giving, so bring something... anything and come get down with us :D

The theme this year is ‘Noah’s Ark‘. The story goes that Noah was warned of a flood that would cover the earth and was instructed to build a large ark. He was told to round up a male and female of each creature and get them on the boat to guarantee their continued existence. Come as an animal... come as a pair, or come solo in the hopes of finding your equally special animal... use your imagination. We always strongly encourage you to dress up, get creative, and HAVE FUN!

We have over 20,000 watts of sounds, enough lasers to confuse NASA, 40+ of the finest DJ’s in the Sea to Sky Corridor, a brand new amazing venue, a beach stage, a live area, a chill zone, and a bag of surprises we will slowly leak as the party gets closer... or maybe we won’t Mu hu ha ha ha (Evil Laugh)

The new AMAZING new venue is nestled in the trees, right beside a slow moving spot on the Squamish river where the sand is super soft. This is hands down our MOST BEAUTIFUL venue to date!!!!!

We will be starting the festivities early on Saturday with opening Ceremonies and a Dj Contest. Depending on the weather we will be carrying on well into Sunday with funky beats and a BBQ to help everyone feel great before we decide to depart.

The MPBIA’s Autumn Shift Festival is a family-friendly street party with great music, fabulous food, fun and free children’s activities, and the chance to meet and mingle with MPBIA friends, neighbours, and business owners.

Excited to be heading to the Island this weekend. I'll be djing between bands all weekend and Lighthead Visuals will be rolling in the party hall for the late night dj events. Not going to be sleeping much but it'll be worth it.

“The Folk Festival with an Edge”

The KULTH returns for its second year to present and showcase the very best in British Columbian talent. Bringing together an exciting cauldron of Electronic, Folk, Reggae, and Island music to keep the community entertained and the brand of ‘folk fest with an edge’ very much alive. The community drive will be relentless, with popular big name acts and children’s entertainment allowing the festival to flow and be a vessel for all ages on a sunny weekend in July. With the backdrop of the popular and charismatic Coombs Rodeo Ground – the festival will be well served by a venue that has been a faithful servant for the Vancouver Island community for countless generations. The dates picked for this year’s festivities are Friday 20, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 of July – an extra day added to include a Film Festival this year on the Friday evening and ! night featuring film festival darlings from the 2011 and 2012 seasons. We are very excited to include this addition to an already stellar event.
Popular island acts The Boom Booms and Wil – will be flanked by the honourable supporting cast of Acres of Lions and Phil Dwyer. The lineup sees this years selection team producing an event which is a veritable who’s who of the Vancouver Island music scene with popular Victoria acts Quoia, This Paul Haggis, The Archers, and Mike Edel making the body of the talent on the Saturday.
“ We made a name for ourselves last year – bringing some big names in like Ron Sexsmith, Stars and Louise Burns – this year as well as bringing in big names, we wanted to ensure we were bringing people in from the community to perform, to really incorporate real people and a sense of family into the event “ said Dan Tanner – Kulth Festival Talent Buyer.

What’s happens after someone has spent years touring the dive bars of North America, sleeping on stranger’s couches, eating cigarettes and coffee for breakfast, honing their bass chops in bands that played everything from punk to jazz? They wise up, step out of the van, take their hard-earned musical lessons and become one of Vancouver’s premier DJs.
Woodhead’s climb to the top of Vancouver’s dj scene started in dark East Van warehouses and all night dance parties where he fused hip-hop, house and electro, gaining him exposure in Vancouver’s club scene. He's currently a resident DJ with Intimate Productions, who host kick ass parties all over town and ran the long running night SiGNAL Saturdays at the former Lotus Sound Lounge in Vancouver where he headlined for 4 years. Darren also makes rad visuals.

is a recording engineer/DJ/producer based in Vancouver. He has extensive engineering and production credits spanning many genres of music and has DJ’d clubs, parties and radio, all since the early 90s. Mostly known for playing funk, hip hop, 80s, disco and classic jams, The Stunt Man still prefers to play vinyl when the situation permits. Notable DJ gigs include Vancouver club residencies such as: Friday Night Fever, The free Monday nights at Save on Meats on Hastings: Chicken & Waffles, and Go Dumb!, also out of town tours including Shambhala music festival, NASA (really), various international space conferences in the US and Japan, as well as playing with Canada’s finest DJs in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax.

The Stunt Man also hosts a weekly radio show. An eclectic mix of music from vinyl, tape and digitized and broadcast weekly on CJMP 90.1 FM Thursday and Saturday at 9 PM PST and replayed on The Sound Syndicate Radio and http://www.freewhistler.com/ . Recent episodes are posted on his soundcloud page and all episodes are archived at http://radio.thestuntman.ca/

Selected engineering credits: Ice T, Dj Skribble, Nate Dogg, StinkMitt, Evil Ebenezer, B-Legit, REL!G!ON, The Luniz, Tom Green, Longwalkshortdock, Josh Martinez, Light In The Attic Records (various releases), Moka Only, Mat The Alien, The Jolts, Birdapres, Kutcorners, Donwill and Petroleum By-Product...to name but a few.

As a rap dj, The Stunt Man has opened for: Diamond D, Redman, Digital Underground, Black Moon, Ghostface Killah, Fat Joe, K'Naan, Devin The Dude and many more.

@BeaumontGallery> The forms of modern dance music are colliding at an exponentially greater rate. Proliferation of advanced and instantaneous distribution and communication networks ensure that trends are quickly established- and then almost immediately snared into the feedback cycle of mass inspiration and saturation. Two glaring examples are the current disco revival, and the nebulous and explosive "bass" scene. In both cases, new or recently rediscovered forms were popularized, and then seized upon by commercial interests and perverted beyond the altruistic aims of their innovators. This being said, quality artists in any medium are always adept at drawing a line in the proverbial sand, carving out a unique position in relation to the wider brushstrokes of their movements as a whole. This edition of Body Language celebrates two producer / selectors who have this often-fleeting integrity in spades.

Come join our kinetic conversation and be reminded of your eloquent bodies by...

DJ CURE - Aufect Recordings - Lighta! - SUB FM

An integral part of the West Coast bass-whatever community, Cure has spearheaded the Aufect Recordings project. The label mirrors the scene, showing off its wonderful diversity, constant innovation, and quality. His sets at Bass Coast have become legend, and for good reason. Tropical beats collide with thuggin' vocal chops, throwback acid lines ride on top of future-bass subwork, and global percussion sits comfortably upon a bed of classic drum machine programming. All these disparate elements are united by impeccable mixing and Cure's unmistakeable selector's ear. We're very excited for his Body Language Debut!

DANE - Common Edit, Foosh, Treehouse (Edmonton)

The massively successful Foosh / Treehouse / Common empire has spawned many progeny over the years, but none so instantly classic as our man Dane. His all-vinyl disco, soul, and cosmic sets have won the hearts of Soundwavers, slow-ravers, and dancefloor slavers across western Canada, and probably many other places I'm not aware of. He's humble, self-effacing, really funny, and talented. He is also handsome. Check out their "Common Edit" series featuring Western Canada's most discerning editors tackling classic fare.
